This website is for all those interested in revisiting the military history of the Syrian War. We’ll take a deep look at specific battles, units, and profiles of combatants, as well as the occasional analytical piece on current events. Many of the forthcoming projects will utilize an original dataset of more than 40,000 regime combat deaths in order to provide a never-before-seen granular approach to battlefield dynamics and sectarianism in the regime’s security services. Other work will be derived from Facebook posts by combatants and author interviews with men from both sides of the war.
Smaller posts derived solely from a few Facebook posts will be free for all to read, while more granular research or posts utilizing primary source interviews will require a paid subscription to access.
